After planting two churches and serving as a lead pastor for 35 years, this blog is the story of my transition from serving as the lead pastor of a local church to serving local church leaders through the ministry of Evangelism Explosion.

Ministry Partner Development

History

In 1962, Dr. D. James Kennedy, Pastor of Coral Ridge Presbyterian Church in Ft. Lauderdale , Florida began the Evangelism Explosion Ministry (EE) in his church. The Lord used the EE ministry to increase the church from a membership of 17 to a vibrant ministry reaching thousands each week.  As others heard of this ministry, the desire for training grew so that in 1967 the first leadership clinic was held at Coral Ridge. In a short time it was necessary to hold leadership clinics at churches in other cities.

In 1971, EE was incorporated with its own staff and international, interdenominational Board of Directors.  As it spread to other countries, EE materials were translated into other languages.  By 1984 more training clinics were conducted overseas than were held in the US.

By late 1995, EE was planted in all 211 nations of the world.  Materials have been translated into more than 100 different languages, and clinics have been held in many nations. But there is still much work to be done developing national leadership and establishing strong indigenous ministries in every nation, whose operations are dependent upon our Lord's grace and the gifts of His people.

The International Office in Ft. Lauderdale is the administrative base and raises financial support for the international operations of this ministry.  It also oversees the material sales and training clinics for the US.  EE is a non-denominational, non-profit mission organization.

EE was used with great success in the two churches I planted in Columbus, Ohio and Lodi, California.  Recently many EE tools have been developed, updated or revamped. Unfortunately pastors and churches are largely unaware of these new tools and their effectiveness in training believers to share Christ as a way of life.  The goal in North America is to encourage as many local churches as possible to adopt and adapt the tools and methodology of EE to better reach non-Christians with the gospel.
